There are two ways to learn new things. The first way is just like how we learned things in school - listen, read, and take down notes. And as we learned in the classroom, we oftentimes believed we were learning stuff we probably will not need later in life. We call this passive learning.
There's also what we call active learning, the kind of learning a lot of individuals prefer because it gets you involved. You have the option to choose what you want to learn about, or at times, you're required to learn simply because you badly need the inputs. Most people love active learning because one can select the things he wants to learn about, and not because he is required to as part of a curriculum. So you get to a point where it becomes both fun and educational, something most of us wished school stuff really had.
What separates passive from active learning is that passive learning tends to get uninteresting over time while the contrary would be the case for active learning. You are made go through what you want to learn, and that is where real knowledge starts off. Such as the case of blogging in the world of internet marketing.
A few years ago, the word "blogging" was quite strange to to the average Joe. But because leanings in internet marketing were directed at the world of blogging, most of us just had to learn it. And as I worked my way to be abreast with the demands of our times, I realized I couldn't have learned much about blogging without really getting into blogging itself. Below are a few points about blogging that you might find useful:
You need to generate unique posts. There are millions of bloggers in the entire cyberworld and a lot of them are simply blogging to catch the market's attention. The most triumphant bloggers I've seen did not have attention as their main target for getting into blogging. All the focus to their blog only followed because people liked what they were getting. And they gave value in their peculiar way, from their own experiences, and not from someone else's. So ascertain that your blog posts are unique. It also helps to go casual on the tone and add on a little humor - readers always love to be amused.
You have to enjoy writing to be successful at blogging. I'm quite thankful that I enjoy doing all the writing now. I'll share a little secret. I'm not a born writer but only found out that writing can be enjoyable when I started to put in some comments into other blogs or forum posts. And when the authors responded, I found out how easy writing can get. In fact, writing is really just like something we all love to do - TALK. Only expressed in text form. When you approach writing that way, the words will easily flow. Another good alternative is to try video blogging, which is actually the "in" thing to do nowadays.
Pick up traffic from a range of sources. A blog can do marvels but don't rely exclusively on it to draw in the traffic. Take advantage of the wonderful world of social networking and link up to Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Digg, etc. Make your blog interactive, so your visitors and members get to participate.
Blogging will introduce you to a lot of amazing people. I've learned about blogging and other marketing stuff from so many fantastic people I've met online. I've developed partnerships and affiliations with some of them, and everything started out with blogging. Don't limit yourself to blog commenting - there are so many ways to do it online and offline. Writeopportunity arises. Or pay them a personal visit if you travel. Who knows, you might form a worthwhile partnership later on!
In a matter of time, all things will pick up. And when it does, there's no way other way to go but UP! You need to do a lot of work at the start - just like everything else in life. Just stick to providing value to your audience, and the leads will just trickle in. Ultimately, the small things will grow to bigger things.. For some it takes just some months, for others it can take years. You just have to persist and be feisty, and you will get there. Don't get easily discouraged and keep the faith!
